Institute of Physics and Technology was established by the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR dated December 27, 1990, No. 535, "On the Organization of the Institute of Physics and Technology of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR."
Since 2015, the only founder is NAC "KazNTU". The Institute is located in the picturesque suburb of the city of Almaty, the microdistrict of Alatau.
The Institute of Physics and Technology has implemented a project to retroactively and prospectively explore the possibility of converting solar energy into electricity using heterojunction silicon solar cells, funded by the Science Foundation.
